Edavaka Perunnal [Festival of the Patron Saint]

The weekend that falls after 2nd November, is celebrated with veneration to commemorate the death anniversary of Saint Parumala Thirumeni. Leading into the main celebration, conventions, intercessory prayers etc are conducted. On that Saturday morning, the parishioners of the Orthodox churches in the city, converge at Ulloor Holy Trinity Chapel (Diocesan Headquarters) and march in a procession to the Peroorkada church. Under the banner of the youth league of Trivandrum Orthodox churches, a vehicle rally is also organised later in the day. The faithful assemble for the evening prayers and takes out a rasa through the neighbourhood. The culmination of the festivities is on Sunday with the Holy Eucharist and nercha vilambu.
