Parish History

St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Peroorkada, is the first church in Trivandrum to be established in the Holy name of Parumala Mar Gregorios Thirumeni. The church, now-a-days known as Thekkan Parumala, and the Kurishadi (The Holy Cross Kiosk) situated along the adjoining main road, now symbolizes the hope, aspiration and refuge of many.

SPIRITUAL MOVEMENTS

Much before the construction of the chapel, Sunday School classes were being held in a neighbourhood residence. During the initial days, the day-to-day functioning of the Sunday school was supervised by Mr. John Varghese and later by Mr. M. Eapen. Upon the completion of the chapel, the classes began functioning there. From October 1982, Mrs. Sosamma Alex continues to function as the headmistress. Along with that, Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam, Prayer Groups and Youth League activities were also initiated.
